Loss of Precision

Or is a loss of accuracy?

I always get those two confused…

It could be a loss of both.

It drives me bonkers when I read about a stock “soaring” 5%. If that were a bird, 5% wouldn’t suffice.

Nowadays, folks are trying to intensify superlatives by stacking them higher.

As a result, words lose their meaning.

As Mountain Dew illustrated in its marketing, superlatives can’t stack forever. Eventually they collapse. And what they leave behind is word soup.
