Age of Numbers

We live in an age of numbers.

People are citing them all the time:

Sixteen million. Forty-one billion. Seventy-three trillion. A bajillionty zillion.

It’s maddening.

I think people are neglecting to notice that when you stack the pie higher and higher, you’re on the road to hyperinflation.

Put another way, if everybody has a million dollars, nobody’s rich.

This is one of my pet peeves. If you want to do something impressive, make more things free. That’s where it’s at.

Nowadays, people are trying to “monetize” stuff that was once free. It’s — pardon my French — fucking stupid.
