I always get those two confused…
It could be a loss of both.
It drives me bonkers when I read about a stock “soaring” 5%. If that were a bird, 5% wouldn’t suffice.
Nowadays, folks are trying to intensify superlatives by stacking them higher.
As a result, words lose their meaning.
As Mountain Dew illustrated in its marketing, superlatives can’t stack forever. Eventually they collapse. And what they leave behind is word soup.
